Brother Jerome has been a Christian
Brother for over 60 years. For approximately ten years he taught at
De La Salle Institute, Chicago, Illinois. For two of those ten years
he was the academic administrator for the school, 1500 students at
the time. There he taught the Catholic religion, remedial reading,
geometry, auto mechanics shop and wood shop. He was the Chairman of
the Arts Department. He has spent the past 20 years as the Director
of the Lasallian International Art/Culture Center near Florence, Italy.
Brother Jerome has a Master of Science in Art Education; Master of
Arts in School Administration; and Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture.
Brother Jerome’s work for the first 25 years was primarily in wood. For the past 35 years he worked in fiberglass, brass, bronze, stainless steel, silver and gold. He works extremely small and also large. His works are representational, organic, abstract, and an integration of all of these characteristics. In his life as well as his art he is attempting to fuse the divine with the human, the theoretical with the practical, the past with the present and the future. The creation of new pieces and the reproduction of pieces not in
stock take time, because each is done individually by hand. I also
depend on foundries and technicians for part of the work. Consequently,
these works of art demand time and patience for all concerned. THE CREATION, PRODUCTION, AND SALE OF BROTHER JEROME'S WORKS OF ART ARE TWOFOLD: 1. TO PROMOTE CONSCIOUSNESS OF OUR DIVENELY CREATED ORIGIN, LIFE, AND DESTINY IN CHRIST JESUS - LORD OF LORDS AND KING OF KINGS. a. "So we are ambassadors for Christ..." (2Cor. 5:20) b. "We are God's work of art created in Christ Jesus to live the good life as He meant us to live it form the very beginning." (Eph. 2:10) c. "It is ideas that we demolish, every presumptuous notion that is set up against the knowledge of God ... (2Cor. 10:4-5) 2. TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE CHRISTIAN AND CULTURAL EDUCATION OF ALL PEOPLE, AND WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS FOR THE YOUNG AND THE POOR. a. “Make sure that no one captivates you with the empty lure of a "philosophy' of the kind that human beings hand on, based on the principles of this world and not on Christ." (Col. 2:8) b. "Instruct those who are rich in this world's goods...they are to do good and be rich in good works, generous in giving and always ready to share---" (1Tim. 6:17-18) c. "Keep doing good works and sharing your resources, for these are the kinds of sacrifice that pleases God." (Hebrews 13:16) THE TIME: PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE 1. THE EXPENSES OF SEVERAL BROTHERS AND NUMEROUS STUDENTS WHO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE WORK/STUDY PROGRAM WHICH HE DIRECTS IN ITALY AND THE U.S.A. 2. THE OPERATION, MAINTENANCE, AND REPAIR OF THE LASALLIAN INTERNATIONAL ART/CULTURE CENTER NEAR FLORENCE, ITALY. 3. HIS EXPENSES AS A BROTHER FOR LIVING, TRAVEL, AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CHRISTIAN BROTHERS FOR ADMINISTRATION, CARE OF THE ELDERLY BROTHERS, AND EDUCATION OF YOUNG BROTHERS. IT IS HOPED THAT THE CONTINUED SALES OF THESE WORKS OF ART WILL BENEFIT MANY OTHER BROTHERS AND THEIR STUDENTS NOW AND IN THE FUTURE, AS WELL AS ENRICH THE LIVES OF THOSE WHO PURCHASE THEM. FOR
THOSE WHO ORDER, PURCHASE, AND/OR GIVE AWAY THESE REMINDERS OF
JESUS CHRIST AND HIS MISSION, PRAYERS ARE OFFERED EVERY DAY TO
GOD FOR THEIR EARTHLY WELFARE AND THEIR ETERNAL SALVATION BY BROTHER
